**Aaron J. Westmeier**, 91, of Versailles passed away Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his home. He was born near Versailles on March 23, 1921 the son of George and Lillie Weakman Westmeier. He was married to Geneva Kieffer on July 12, 1947 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2006. Survivors include one son Bill (Mary) Westmeier of Versailles; two daughters Linda (Terry) Hillman of Connersville and Pat (Paul) Reese of Milan; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Willard and his granddaughter Clarissa Westmeier. Mr. Westmeier was a 1940 graduate of Versailles High School. He was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in the Rhineland and Central Europe as a Radioman. For his service, he received the WWII Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with two bronze stars, 3 overseas service bars, and the Good Conduct medal. Mr. Westmeier retired from Cummins in 1986 after 19 years and was also a farmer. Aaron was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean, the Versailles American Legion, and the Ripley County Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 16 at 11am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Olean with Pastor Ken Witt officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.
