Adah Ehlers

**Adah Ehlers**, 92, of Versailles passed away Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the Waters of Ross Manor in Dillsboro. She was born near Holton on May 20, 1913 the daughter of Robert and Mamie Platt Cole. She was married to Estol Ehlers on February 14, 1945 and he preceded her in death on August 24, 1974. Survivors include two sons, Marvin Ehlers of Versailles and Robert Ehlers and his wife Peg also of Versailles; three grandsons, Aaron, Joseph, and Shawn Ehlers and three great-grandchildren. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mildred Werner and her brother Omer Cole. Mrs. Ehlers was a 1930 graduate of Holton High School and graduated from Central Normal Teachers College in Danville. She started her teaching career in a one room school house at St. Magdalene near New Marion. She had also taught at Napoleon, Holton, Versailles, Moores Hill, and retired from Dillsboro. She was a member of the Shelby Christian Church, Correct Homemakers Club, and the Ripley County Retired Teachers. Mrs. Ehlers was also a licensed beautician and during WWII worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Camp Atterbury. Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 15 at 10am at the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with Pastor Marcus Felde of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean officiating. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
