Albert "Red" Lohrum Jr.

Albert "Red" Lohrum Jr., 78, of Versailles passed away Friday, March 31, 2006 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Elrod, Indiana on October 26, 1927 the son of Albert and Eunice Elrod Lohrum Sr.. He grew up and graduated from Versailles High School in 1946. He married Patricia Steuer on November 14, 1952 in Alcorn County, Mississippi and she survives. Other survivors include his sons Leslie Lohrum and his wife Christine of Versailles and Lynn Lohrum and his wife Paige of Versailles, two grandsons Jackson and Samuel, three brothers, Vic of Elrod, John of Versailles, Buzzy of Elrod, two sisters, Alice Lee Mathis of Dillsboro and Linda Bruce of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Lohrum was an Army veteran of WWII and Korea, he received the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan in WWII. He was also a mold maker for Thatcher Glass Company in Lawrenceburg where he retired from in 1985. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 11:00am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery with military rites being served by the Leora Weare American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Washington Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
