**Alvin Young**, 79, of Napoleon passed away Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born near Napoleon on March 2, 1926 the son of George and Pearl Drescher Young. He was married to Maxine Pickett on June 25, 1949 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons Ronald Young and his wife Debbie of Versailles, Randall Young and his wife Patricia of Osgood; one daughter Rosalie Allen and her husband Stanley of Indianapolis; grandchildren Stanley Allen and his wife Melissa, Christine Adamo and Robert, Cassandra, Alex, and Kara Young; step-granddaughter Deanna Burkart and William; three great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Syalvester (Wes) Young and his wife Genieve of Napoleon; Norman Young and Marita, Lester Young and Betty all of Osgood, Delbert Young of Los Lunas, New Mexico; two sisters Alice Bultman and her husband Cecil, Sr. and Ida Grow all of Napoleon. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl, Walter, Roy, and Harry Young and his sisters Sadie Schmidt and Esther Barnard. Mr. Young was an Army veteran of WWII having served in Europe. He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with one bronze star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Victory Medal, and the Army of Occupation Japan Medal. He was a 30 year employee of the Union Furniture Company in Batesville retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Napoleon VFW and attended the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January at 2pm at the Cedar Creek Community Church with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Rock Cemetery near Osgood. Visitation will be Saturday from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 1pm until time of services Sunday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Cedar Creek Church or the Flat Rock Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
