Barney Smith

Barney Smith, 55, of Fort Myers, Florida formerly of Bear Branch passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at his home. He was born in Milan on November 26, 1958 the son of Marvin Denson and Nancy Lee Phillips Smith. He was married to Greta Schnuck on October 13, 1994 and she survives. Other survivors include four sons Shawn, Dakota, Cheyenne, and Ethan; four daughters Brittany, Shawntaine, Samantha, and Sabrina; four brothers Alvin of Rising Sun, Marvin of Milan, Arron of Bear Branch and Lindsey of Oklahoma; five sisters Diane, Melinda Dennis of Middletown, Ohio, Gwenn Hamilton of Holton, Reva Clark of Hanover and Vicki Kurlich of Sunman. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Joshua and his sister Emma Smith. Mr. Smith served in the US Army in the 101 Air Assault. He worked as an electrician for D & J Electrical. Barney was a member of the Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 6 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Tom Holt officiating. Burial will be in Cravens Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9am until the time of service. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
