Beatrice Boyd

**Beatrice Boyd**, 87, of Holton passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009 at her home. She was born at Osgood on August 22, 1921 the daughter of Everett and Louise Stegmann Beach. She was married to Donald Boyd on September 19, 1953 and he preceded her in death on August 27, 1976. Survivors include one son Donald (Mary) Nealis of Holton; one granddaughter Rae Jean Auterson of Versailles. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Randy Nealis, her brothers Jesse, Woodrow, Wilbur, and George Beach, and her sisters Mildred Cziek and Mary Adams. Mrs. Boyd was a 1939 graduate of Holton High School and a graduate of the Central Beauty School in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Holton Christian Church. Her working career included employment at Seagrams and Muscatatuck. She also was employed as an accountant with Neal's Ford in Osgood and retired from the Ripley County Welfare Office. She had served as the president of the Holton Cemetery Association since 1969 and had been a long time director for the Ripley County Historical Society representing Otter Creek Township. She had also served as Ripley County Historian, an appointment she received in 1981. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 19 at 12pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Robert McCreary of the Holton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery or the Ripley County Historical Society in care of the funeral home.
