Ben Webb, 83, of New Marion
passed away Friday, October 6, 2006 at the
Hospitality Hall in Batesville. He was born at Tanksley in Clay County, Kentucky
on September 12, 1923 the son of Billy and Sarina Hensley Webb. Survivors
include one daughter, Trudy Thomas and her husband Mike of New Marion; one
step-son Ronald Spurlock and his wife Tammy of Greensburg; three step-daughters
Carolyn Smith of Cincinnati, Marilyn Clayton of Osgood, and Verna Mosier and her
husband Abe of North Vernon; 9 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his loving partner Margaret Spurlock, his parents, his
brothers Harm Webb and Jonah Webb, and his sisters Sylvania Cole and Zelda Cole.
Mr. Webb was an Army veteran of WWII. He served as an ammunition bearer in the
Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He was a retired farmer and an avid coon
hunter. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 9
at 11am at
the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day of the
Versailles Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview
Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Sunday from 6pm to 8pm.
Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the
funeral home.
