Betty Mae Carlson, 85, of Milan passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012 at her nephew's house in Sunman. She was born in Milan on April 1926, the daughter of Roy and Myra Hutcheson Stephens. She had been married to Stanley Carlson and he preceded her in death on August 2000. Mrs. Carlson was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sharleen Knight in 1995. Other survivors include one granddaughter, Kimberly Knight Nylin of Avon, two great-granddaughters, Kelsey Nylin and Kyra Nylin both of Avon; one brother Maurice Stephens of Winter Haven, Florida.
Mrs. Carlson was a retired Home Economics teacher for the South Ripley School Corporation, where she taught for 30 years. Mrs. Carlson was also a member of the Milan American Legion Post 235 Auxiliary and Milan VFW Auxiliary.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 24 at 2pm at the Milan American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Liver Foundation. Arrangements by Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
