Betty L. Uhlman

Betty L. Uhlman, 75, of Cross Plains, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born in the Hopewell community on June 13, 1934 the daughter of Isaac and Mary Hoppos Large. She was married to William Uhlman on April 5, 1953 and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter; Lynn Ann Uhlman of Madison, one granddaughter; Erica Anne (Kyle) Bechman of Cross Plains, one brother; Guy (Mariam) Large of Orange City, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Ray. Mrs. Uhlman was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, former Grand Representative of the Indiana Grand Chapter to the State of Wyoming, a past president of the Friendship American Legion Auxiliary and a 1952 graduate of the Versailles High School. She had worked as a greeter at the Madison Wal-Mart, and helped with Glen Smith Produce Stand. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 11am at the Cross Plains United Methodist Church with Randy Thieman and Scott Elston officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Cross Plains United Methodist Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
