Beulah E. Laswell, 86, of Holton passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Pierceville on November 24, 1917 the daughter of John and Alice Stegner Walsh. She was married to Robert Laswell in 1937 and he preceded her in death in 1956.
Mrs. Laswell was a 1935 graduate of Holton High School and was a lifelong member of the Holton United Methodist Church. She had worked as a cook at the Holton School and retired from the Muscatatuck State Developmental Center.
Survivors include three sons, Merlin Laswell and his wife Carolyn of Clermont, Florida, Ronald Laswell of Phoenix City, Alabama, and Roy Dean Laswell and his wife Connie of Naples, Florida; two daughters, Eileen Rayburn of Osgood and Brenda Sizemore of Roanoke, Virginia; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one brother John Leslie Walsh and his wife Ruth of Versailles.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Laswell was preceded in death by her parents, her son Bobby, her brothers Walter Walsh and Norman Walsh, her sister Lucille Downey, one grandson and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3 at 11am at the Holton United Methodist Church with Rev. John Scudder and Rev. Dennis Hadler officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 2 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the church or cemetery in care of the funeral home.
