Beverly Lee Shook, 84, of Butlerville, formerly of Benham passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at the home of his son Chris in Butlerville. He was born near Canaan in Jefferson County on April 13, 1930 the son of Cecil and Iva Thornton Shook. Survivors include two sons Danny Shook of Louisville and Chris (Stephanie) Shook of Butlerville; one daughter Jackie (Phil) Amos of Holton; 9 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister Roberta Isabel of San Diego.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Steve, his infant twin children Terri Lee and Iva Marie, his sisters Lillian Hankins and Marcella McIntosh, and his brothers Tony Shook and Ralph Shook. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War serving from 1949 to 1952. He served with the 567 Medical Ambulance Company and received the Medical Badge, Korean Service Medal, and the U.N. Offensive-Chinese Communist Force Intervention – Second Korean Winter badge.
Mr. Shook worked for 30 years as a mechanic for Hoosier Engineering in Dublin, Ohio and was a member of the Brown Township American Legion in Friendship. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 13 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Brown Township American Legion. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Benham Cemetery or the Brown Township American Legion in care of the funeral home.
