Bruce Edward Filsell,
72, of Versailles
passed away
Sunday, February 22, 2015 at his home. He was born in Toronto,
Canada on July 1, 1942 the son of Albert and Marjory Powell Filsell. Bruce
became a citizen of the United States on September 17, 1965. He was married to
Lauragene Cutter on September 22, 1984 and she survives. Other survivors include two
daughters Laura (Paul) Freese of Batesville, and Laurene Wittmer of North
Vernon; two grandsons Justin Wittmer and Levi Freese; two step-grandsons Eric Freese
and Kyle Freese; one brother Edwin Filsell of North Carolina; one sister Eileen
Hobbs of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Filsell
was a millwright and had been employed with US Borax in California and was
also a UAW electrician and had been employed with INTAT in Rushville.
He served with the US Air Force from 1960 to 1968 as an airplane mechanic with the 6510
Air Base Group. He received the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Bruce was a member of
the Versailles Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Thursday,
February 26 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Rev. Richard
Burcham officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Visitation will
be on Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the
Versailles American Legion in care of the funeral home.
