**Carl C. Schroder**, 97, of Wilmington, North Carolina, formerly of Pierceville, passed away Tuesday December 6, 2005 at the home of his daughter in Wilmington. He was born at Pierceville on September 19, 1908 the son of Christian and Mary Graue Schroder. He was married to Helen McLafferty on October 8, 1931 and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2005.
Mr. Schroder was a 1926 graduate of Milan High School and had attended Indiana University. He had worked as a machinist in Connersville until the death of his father in 1935 when he returned to Pierceville to manage the store. He and his wife owned and operated Schroder's Store in Pierceville for 32 years where he also served as postmaster. During the World War II years he worked at Cook's foundry along with operating the store.
Survivors include one daughter Renee Godsey and her husband Robert of Wilmington, North Carolina; one son Roger Schroder and his wife Sue of Indianapolis; granddaughters Christy Miller, Vicki Williams, and Julie Corbett and her husband Ross; grandsons Terry Godsey, Patrick Godsey, Jamie Godsey and his wife Sandra, Kent Schroder and his wife Dana; great-granddaughters Shanna, Emily, Allison, Amanda, Allison, and Olivia; great-grandsons Joshua and his wife Tammi, and Nicholas; great-great-grandsons Asher and Kylan; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Irene Strom and Margaret Overbeck.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 10 at 11am at St. Peter's United Church of Christ at Finks Corner with Rev. Karyl Leslie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9am until time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the St. Peters building fund or Ripley Co. Hospice in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
