Carolyn Harms, 92, of Montgomery, died Friday, November 4, 2009 at Central Health Care Center in Le Center. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Wednesday, November 9 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 11 in Versailles, Indiana at Straton Karsteter Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Benham Cemetery in Benham, Indiana.
Carolyn was born in Friendship, Indiana on November 18, 1917 to Wilkie S. & Edna (Elrod) Lemon. She graduated from Cross Plains High School, Cross Plains, IN and Purdue University in 1940 with a teaching degree. She married Van Deursen Harms on December 26, 1941 at Tyson Temple in Versailles. They lived in Paducah, Kentucky for about 4 years. They moved to Chicago after the war and lived there many years before moving to Montgomery, Minnesota.
She is survived by her four children, Johanna Radzwill of Minneapolis, Jan C. & Karen Harms of Plover, WI, Douglas J. & Jane A. Harms of New Prague, MN, and Barbara J. & Dan Taylor of Christiansburg, VA; brother, James W. & Pat Lemon of Batesville, IN; brother-in-law, Abell Hooton of Versailles, IN; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Mary Chandler & Elizabeth Hooton.
