Carolyn Jean Moreland

Carolyn Jean Moreland, 65, of Versailles, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born in Batesville on August 28, 1948, the daughter of William and Owanna Ray Stratton. She was married to Max Moreland on February 8, 1965 and he survives. Other survivors include her mother, Mrs. Owanna Stratton of Versailles; four daughters, Stephanie (Jeffrey) Kettinger of Commerce, Michigan, Chris Cubr of Versailles, Joy (David) Mooney of Bremen, Georgia, and Beth (Gaveth) Thomas of Kennesaw, Georgia; 11 grandchildren; one sister, Melody (Mike) Burnett of St. Paul; two brothers, Rodney (Becky) Stratton of Holton and Robert (Jody) Stratton of Ringboro, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father; and her sons, Christopher Scott Moreland and Phillip Andrew Moreland. Mrs. Moreland was a 1966 graduate of Holton High School and was a homemaker. Carol was a former Girl Scout leader and a member of the Dabney Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and doing crafts. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at the Dabney Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the church.
