Cassie P. Flint, 100, of Versailles
passed away Friday,
January 6, 2012 at Hickory Creek at Greensburg. She was born near Milton in
Trimble County, Kentucky on April 12, 1911 the daughter of Dalton and Ammie
Jenkins Handlon. She was married to Willard Flint on April 10, 1929 and he
preceded her in death on November 3, 1986. Survivors include one daughter Sondra
Nickell of Greensburg; three sons Wilferd Flint of Cross Plains, Larry (Tara)
Flint of Vevay, and Doug (Janet) Flint of Greensburg; 17 grandchildren, 24
great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in
death by her parents, her brothers Dutch, Roy, and Woodrow Handlon, and her
sisters Helen Hafft, Ruby Woosten, and Margie Zettlemeyer. Mrs. Flint was a
homemaker and a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship. She
served as matron of the Ripley County Jail during the time her husband was
sheriff from 1960-1964. Cassie also assisted her husband as a fishing guide at
Loxahatchee Recreation Center in the Everglades, Florida. Funeral services will
be held Tuesday, January 10
at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the
Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 9:30am until time of services.
Memorials may be given to the Shelby Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
