Charlene Keck,
83, of Versailles
passed away at 3:15 p.m., Tuesday, March 11,
2025 at the
Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was born in Milan on
April 5, 1941,
the daughter of Stanley and Lillian Powers Bishop. She was
married to Jerry Keck
on July 26, 1958 and he preceded her in death on January 17,
2003. Survivors
include one son Jerry (Katrina) Keck of Versailles; three
daughters Cheryl (Mike)
Richmond of Versailles, Susann (Mark) Abdon of Bennington, and
Carole (Bill)
Lewis of Vevay; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one
brother Lee
Bishop of Versailles. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, her
brother Gene Bishop, and her sister Betty Hicks. Mrs. Keck
attended school in
New Marion and Versailles. She worked for over 40 years in the
Ripley County
Court House, serving in the Assessor and Treasurer's offices,
but was best
known in the community for her work as registrar with the Ripley
County Health
Department. Charlene loved the old classic movies, spending time
with her
family, and, in her younger days, roller skating. Funeral
services will be held
on Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in
Versailles with Johnnie Lohrum officiating. Burial will be in
the Cliff Hill
Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m.
until 7 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion or the
Ripley County Humane
Society in care of the funeral home.
