Charles Collier, 96, of Versailles passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Waters of Batesville. He was born at Manchester in Dearborn County on August 24, 1915 the son of Charles and Annie Ridel Collier. He was married to Edna Mae Brooks on August 7, 1960 and she preceded him in death on March 23, 1995. Survivors include two sons Frank Collier of Versailles and Gary Collier of Vevay; one daughter Judy Goins of Versailles; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Collier, and his sister Gertie Brinson.
Mr. Collier was an Army veteran of WWII and received the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the WWII Victory Medal.
Charles was a former employee of Rex Chain Belt in Madison and was a member of the Versailles American Legion. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 30 at 2pm at the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison with Dale Day officiating. Visitation will be Friday at 1pm at the Versailles Church of Christ. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Versailles American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Church of Christ in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
