Charles J. "Duke" Owens

**Charles J. "Duke" Owens, 82, of Osgood** passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Clarksburg in Decatur County on January 22, 1931 the son of Glenn and Ethel Goodpaster Owens. Survivors include two brothers Joe (Susan) Owens, and John (Kathryn) Owens both of Osgood; two sisters Lou Truelblood of Salem, and Georgia (Jerry) Adkinson of Elrod. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Railey, Russell, Jim, Eugene, and Dennis Owens, and his sister Faye Mills. Mr. Owens was a farmer and former employee of the Ripley County Highway Department. Duke was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church and the CB Helping Hands Club. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 28 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Joe Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood. Visitation will be from 9am Friday until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Osgood Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
