Charles L. Flick, Jr., 87, of the Hopewell community near Holton passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born near Holton on December 7, 1926 the son of Charles and Emma Detraz Flick. He was married to Mabel Comer on October 15, 1949 and his wife of 64 years survives. Other survivors include one sister, Margaret Ann (Herbert) Wilken of Anderson, and also 17 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Flick was a 1944 graduate of Holton High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a Corporal receiving the Army Occupation of Germany Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was also a farmer, and worked at Cummins Engine in Columbus from 1956 to 1983. Charlie was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and the Osgood Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8 at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Barringer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home and from 10am Saturday until time of services at the Hopewell Baptist Church. The Osgood Masonic Lodge will conduct services Friday evening at 7:30pm at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund.
