Charles R. Myers, 75, of Osgood passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born near New Marion on November 25, 1932 the son of Rufus and Lillie Mae Brown Myers. He was married to Elberta Farmer on July 22, 1965 and she preceded him in death on December 28, 2003. Survivors include one son Allen (Vickie) McIntosh of Brookville; three daughters, Debra Gregory of Fortville, Sarah (Mark) Chemo of Greeneville, Tennessee, and Lori (Kevin) Sturgeon of Osgood; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one brother Russell Myers of Evansville; two sisters, Nettie Grigsby of Versailles and Rosie Burress of New Marion. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Jim and David (Pete) Myers, and his sisters Leah Swinney, Mabel Sexton, Betty Kieffer, and Mary Jo Lauber. Mr. Myers was a 1950 graduate of New Marion High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he attained the rank of Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the Army Occupation of Germany Medal. Mr. Myers had been a former employee of Empire Gas, McKittrick Contracting, and had worked for several years at the Halcomb Home Center in Versailles. He was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ and the Versailles American Legion. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June at 2pm at the Versailles Church of Christ with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Saturday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 1pm until time of services Sunday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Church of Christ in care of the funeral home.
