Charlotte Marie Terrican

Charlotte Marie Terrican, 84, of Des Peres, Missouri died on 17 March 2012 in Philadelphia after a valiant struggle with lung disease. Beloved wife of Robert Terrican for 62 years, dearest mother to her daughter, Anne (Raymond) Haddad of Berwyn, Pennsylvania and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren Kevin and Kelsey. Charlotte was born in New Marion, Indiana on July 16, 1927 the daughter of Charles and Clara Matz Meierle. She was known to her family as Margaret. She left her home at 18 to work in Indianapolis and was employed by Eli Lilly Company. From there she moved to Los Angeles, CA and then to Northport, NY before settling in the Saint Louis area. In California, Charlotte became an avid bowler, camper and hiker, and she developed a life-long love for golf. Charlotte also started a floral design company, De Char, which she sold when her family moved to Long Island in 1971. Upon moving to St. Louis in 1973, Charlotte returned to school and then worked at the Maritz L.L.C. for 7 years before retiring. After retiring she added traveling, stitchery and antiquing to her hobbies. Charlotte made many wonderful friends through her hobbies and sports. Charlotte was devoted to her faith and was an active member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church. Besides her husband and daughter she is survived by two brothers Gary (Janet) Meierle of Benham and Harold Meierle of New Marion; her sister Genevieve Pickett of Los Angeles; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Dalbert, Marcee, Charles, and Irvin Meierle, and her sisters Evelyn Meierle, Mary Gigerich, and Ruth Burske. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, March 23rd, at 11am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Madison with Father Shaun Whittington officiating. Burial will be in the St. Magdalene Cemetery at Madison. Visitation will be Friday beginning at 9am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the St. Magdalene Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
