Clara Mae Iceberg,
98, of Cross Plains
passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at
Ross Manor. She was born in Cross Plains on December 8,
1913 the daughter of Leonard and Mary Craig Voris. She was
married to Dietrich Iceberg on April 28, 1934 and he
preceded her in death on July 14, 1996. Survivors include
two sons Ervin (Janet) of Dillsboro and George (Barbara)
of Cross Plains; two daughters Marlene (John) Steuver of
Dillsboro, Jeraldine (George) Smith of Cross Plains; 15
grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great
granddaughter. She was also preceded in death by her
daughter Stella Giltner, son in law Dale Giltner, grandson
Mark Giltner, her parents, her sisters Josephine Voris,
Hortense House, Edith Marker, and Mary Ringwald, and her
brothers Emmett and William Voris, half brother, Preston
Voris and half sister, Margaret Voris. Mrs. Iceberg was a
1931 graduate of Versailles High School and was a member
of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dewberry. When she was 48
she went to the Practical School of Nursing at Central
High School, where she became a LPN and worked for the
Dearborn County Hospital for 20 years. Prior to that she
was a homemaker and a farm hand with her husband near
Dewberry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30
at 10am at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dewberry with
Pastor Dehnke officiating. Burial will be in the Church
Cemetery at Dewberry. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm
to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in
Versailles. Memorials may be given to the church or
cemetery in care of the funeral home.
