Clifford R. Smith, 89, of Osgood passed away Sunday, December 21, 2003 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born at St. Joseph, Missouri on June 13, 1914 the son of Calvin and Clara Belle Jordan Smith. He was married to Margaret Herbert in 1945 and she preceded him in death on April 22, 1989. Survivors include one son, Bob Smith and his wife Pat of Osgood, one daughter, Nancy Dilk and her husband Wayne of Osgood; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also one sister-in-law Dorothy Smith of Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Smith had been employed with the Napoleon Sawmill, Vines Poultry, and retired from Thomas & Skinner in Osgood in 1981. He was an Army veteran of WWII where served with the military police in Alaska. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 23 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Michael Miller officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 5pm to 7pm. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery at Napoleon with military graveside rites by the Osgood American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Foundation or to St. John's Cemetery.
