Dale Benham

**Dale Benham**, 73, of Osgood passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born near Osgood on August 22, 1937 the son of Chauncey and Ruth Powers Benham. He was married to Bonnie Holman on February 3, 1957 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter Beverly Tebbe of Vevay; four sons Raymond (Peggy) Benham, Kenneth (Tonya) Benham, Greg (Marisa) Benham, and Tim Benham all of Osgood; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers Jim Benham of Greensburg, Raymond Benham of Lexington, Nebraska, and David Benham of Osgood; five sisters Helen (Kenny) Mitterling of Greensburg, Helena (Jim) Fruchtnicht of Napoleon, Jean (Bill) Arthur and Pam (David) Hall both of North Vernon, and Phyllis (Bill) Wynn of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert, Victor, Pete, and John Benham, and his sisters Mary Herbert, Lillian Riley, and Betty Wilson. Dale was a lifelong logger and horse puller. He was inducted into the Horse Pullers Hall of Fame and set a world record with his lightweight team in 1990. He also set records in nearly all 50 states and set many records in Indiana and Michigan. Dale began his pulling career in 1963 and his last pull was in Michigan in 2001. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 22 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the donors choice in care of the funeral home.
