**Dale E. Wendelman**, 80, of Dillsboro passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Dillsboro Manor. He was born near Manchester in Dearborn County on May 17, 1931 the son of Milton and Marie Lattire Wendelman. He was married to Verneda Cook on September 7, 1957 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter Kim (John) Ascherman of Aurora; grandchildren Kyle and Hannah Ascherman. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Wendelman was a 1951 graduate of Milan High School and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a former bus driver for the South Dearborn School system, operated Dillsboro Floral from 1954 to 1970, and also Wendelman's Sound and Lighting Service in Dillsboro since 1954. Dale was a member of the Chapter 4 Veterans of the Korean War in Aurora, was a former member of the Dillsboro Fire Department and was a member of the Dillsboro American Legion. He helped organize and was past president of the Dillsboro Civic Club and the Dillsboro Life Squad. He also had served as past president of the South Dearborn Music Boosters and was president for the re-organization of the Dearborn County Fair. Mr. Wendelman was a member of the Indiana Association of County and District Fairs where he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1993 and was named Member of the Year in 1998. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 29 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Stumpke's Corner with military graveside rites by the Korean War Veterans of Aurora. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Dillsboro Civic Club's Christmas Street Light fund in care of the funeral home.
