Daniel R. Slayback,
71, of Columbus
passed away at 5:05
pm Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Margaret Mary Community
Hospital in
Batesville. He was born in Milan on August 9, 1944 the son of
Bernard and
Thelma Eaglin Slayback. Survivors include two brothers Bernard
(Evelene)
Slayback of Lawrenceburg and Jerry (Vera) Slayback of Columbus.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, his sister Barbara, and his brother
George. Mr.
Slayback was a 1964 graduate of Moores Hill High School and had
done custodial
work. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the US
Navy from 1967
to 1973.
He received the
National
Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit
Commendation, Republic
of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and
the Gallantry
Cross. Daniel was a member of the Moores Hill American Legion.
Graveside
services will be held on Friday, August 21
at 11am
at the Mt.
Sinai Cemetery with military honors by the Moores Hill American
Legion.
Memorials may be given to the Moores Hill American Legion or the
Mt. Sinai
Cemetery in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in
Versailles.
