David J. Acre

David J. Acre, 65, of Friendship passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at his home. He was born at Milan on October 5, 1951 the son of Russell and Ora Roberts Acre. Survivors include one daughter Tammy Acre Bramel of Fairfield, Ohio; two grandchildren Lexie and Tyler Bramel; two sisters Erica Dennis of Harrison, Ohio and Pam Sandoze of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell Acre and Ora Acre Alsop, and also his brother Charles Acre. Mr. Acre was a 1969 graduate of South Ripley High School. David was a career mechanic having worked at the Ripley County Highway Garage and was a very familiar face in Friendship where he was employed at and retired from Whitey's Auto Shop. David was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and a former member of the Versailles Fire Department. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 13 at 10:30am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Sherman Hughes of the Bear Creek Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Akers Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5pm to 7pm. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Fire Department or the Friendship Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
