David Roy Shaw, 70, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born near Holton on October 28, 1937 the son of Leslie and Ethel Mercer Shaw. He was married to Barbara Holzer on November 22, 1957 and she survives. Other survivors include one son David (Kathy) Shaw of Versailles; two daughters, Cindy (Lanny) Burnham of Versailles and Patricia (Randy) Young of Osgood; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Shaw of Nebraska and Robert Shaw of Milan. He was preceded by his parents and his brother Gene.
Mr. Shaw, a veteran of the Vietnam War, served in the US Army from 1956 to 1978 retiring as a Master Sergeant. After his military service he owned and operated Shaw's TV Repair in Versailles and also had been employed with Versailles Plastics and US Shoe.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June at 11am at the Dabney Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Dabney Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
