David L. Stoneking

David L. Stoneking, 69, of Versailles passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at his home. He was born at the Whitlatch Clinic in Milan on July 10, 1953, the son of William and Eva Jane Starkey Stoneking. Survivors include two sons Tracy and Ryan Stoneking both of Versailles; three grandchildren Zowie Pevlor, Khloe Pevlor and Michael Stoneking; one brother Sam Stoneking of Holton. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers William and Jerry. Mr. Stoneking was a 1973 graduate of South Ripley High School and was a veteran of the US Army. He had retired from Argosy Casino where he worked as a security guard. David was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church, Helping Hands CB Club and the HAM Radio Club. He was instrumental in the establishment of Rescue 69 and had also served as a weather spotter. David's wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of life service will be held at 1pm, Friday, March 24 at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Cantrell officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
