David A. Yeomans, Jr., 73 of Versailles passed away Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born in Boston on May 2, 1934 the son of David Sr. and Edith Young Yeomans. He was married to Juanita Lovins on January 16, 1967 and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Danita Yeomans of Versailles and Robin (Steve) Fischer of Sunman; grandchildren Cory Yeomans, Lauren Copeland, Evan, Kyla, and Jalyn Fischer; one great-granddaughter Alexa Yeomans; two brothers Kenneth Yeomans of Boston and Richard Yeomans of Medway, Massachusetts; four sisters, Linda Walsh and Marilyn Morgan both of Boston, Betty Bowdish of New Mexico, and Edith Jasnocha of Arizona. Mr. Yeomans was a Navy veteran retiring in 1977 after serving 20 years. During his career in the Navy he was qualified as a Radarman First Class, Antisubmarine Air Controller, Air Intercept Controller, Operations Specialist First Class, and retired as a Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Yeomans was twice awarded the Navy's Good Conduct Award. After his Navy career he worked in quality control for the Batesville Casket Company.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 2 at 10am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Rick Burcham officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation will be Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery or Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
