Delmar J. Bradley Usaf Ret

Delmar J. Bradley USAF Ret, 76, of Westport passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was born at Lee City, Kentucky on July 3, 1935 the son of Wesley and Maize Miller Bradley. He was married to Virginia Leahigh on October 24, 1958 and she survives. Other survivors include one son Jeff Bradley of Columbus, Ohio; two daughters Janet Bradley of Westport and Kelly Mann of Sellersburg; grandchildren Brandon, Emily, and Erica Bradley, and Samantha and Alexander Mann; five brothers Elmer (Sherry) Bradley of Dillsboro, Wesley (Carol) Bradley of Napoleon, and Earnie (Sue), Omer (Sue), and Mike (Pam) Bradley all of Versailles; four sisters Nellie Anis of Mason, Ohio, Fran (Roy) Powell of Columbus, Sue (Norman) Nelson of Butlerville, and Debbie (Bruce) Clowers of Versailles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Linda Bradley and Sidney Klusman. Mr. Bradley served in the US Army from 1953 to 1956 and served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1977 where he retired with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. While in the Army he received the Korean Defense Service Medal and also received the Air Force's Longevity Service Award, the Vietnam Service Award, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, and the Senior Aircrew Member Badge. In civilian life Mr. Bradley was an experimental machinist for Cummins Engine in Columbus. Delmar was a 1953 graduate of Holton High School and was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church. Funeral services will be held Monday, March at 11am at the Cedar Creek Community Church with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. Visitation will be Sunday from 3pm to 6pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Hospice of South Central Indiana or the Cedar Creek Church in care of the funeral home.
