Delmar N. Cox, 85, of Holton passed away at 8:30pm Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the University Hospital in Louisville. He was born in the Hopewell Community near Holton on March 30, 1931 the son of Willard and Lucy Cumberworth Cox. He was married to Pearl Thompson on November 18, 1950 and she preceded him in death on May 22, 2007. Survivors include one son Doug (Myrna) Cox of Holton; two grandchildren Chris Cox of Holton and Kassey Odneal of Steelville, Missouri; one great-grandson Gabriel Cox. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Delfert and Dale Cox, and his sister Gnelle Harrell. Mr. Cox was a 1949 graduate of Holton High School. He was a livestock broker and along with his brother Delfert owned and operated Cox Brothers Livestock in Amity for several years. He was also a farmer and had worked as a buyer for the Indianapolis Stock Yards. For several years Delmar and Pearl maintained their winter home in Lake Placid, Florida where Delmar enjoyed fishing for largemouth bass. He was also an avid gardener. Delmar was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church and attended the Holton Christian Church. He was also a member of the Holton Masonic Lodge. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 17 at 11am at the Holton Christian Church with Pastor Bob McCreary officiating. Burial will be in the Holton West Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Thursday at the church. The Holton Masonic Lodge will conduct services at 7pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian Church or the Holton Masonic Lodge in care of the funeral home.
