Delores C. Kabbes

Delores C. Kabbes, 80, of Cross Plains passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Mercy Hospital in Fairfield, Ohio. She was born in Cincinnati on June 30, 1934 the daughter of Albert and Helen Hautz Riestenberg. She was married to Matt Kabbes on May 14, 1955 and he preceded her in death on December 28, 2012. Survivors include one son Mike Kabbes of Cincinnati; three daughters Susan (Tom) Spielman of Aurora, Pamela Kabbes of Salem and Kathleen Kreimer of Florence Kentucky; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; one brother Ray Riestenberg of Cincinnati; one sister Helen Mueller of Harrison, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Joan Jansen, her brothers Stan and Al Riestenberg, and her daughter-in-law Bonnie Kabbes. Mrs. Kabbes was a 1952 graduate of Seton High School in Cincinnati. In her younger years she coached kids in softball and volleyball and had worked for several years as a cook at LaSalle High School in Cincinnati. Delores was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Osgood. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Sister Shirley Gerth officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Catholic Cemetery in Osgood. Visitation will be Tuesday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the St. John Catholic Church or to St. Judes in care of the funeral home.
