Deloris Summers

Deloris Summers, 96, of the Hopewell community passed away Friday, April 30, 2004 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in the Hopewell community near Holton on February 10, 1908 the daughter of Clarence and Bessie Grossman Toops. She was married to Daay Summers on February 13, 1926 and he preceded her in death in 1967. Mrs. Summers was a homemaker and had been a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church since 1924. Survivors include her daughter-in-law Shirley Summers of Osgood; six grandchildren, Denver Summers, Jr. and his wife Mary of Osgood, Terry Summers of Holton, Chris Summers and Jennifer of Florence, Kentucky, Sharon Summers of Osgood, Scott Summers of Osgood, and Stacy Stater and Brian of Noblesville; one brother, Donald Toops and his wife Molly of Osgood, and one sister-in-law Barbara Toops of Edinburgh; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Denver Lee Summers and her brother Dallas Toops. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 4 at 11am at the Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. David Shivers officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 3 from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Baptist Church building fund in care of the funeral home.
