Dennis "Pete" Junior Holcomb

Dennis "Pete" Junior Holcomb, 69, of Versailles, IN passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY. He was born on June 9, 1955, to Dennis "Pete" & Alta (Adams) Holcomb in Batesville, Indiana. Pete is a 1973 graduate of South Ripley High School. Pete worked for Cummins for 20 years, worked for Halcomb's Home Center for many years, and his all-time favorite job was being a flagman at Florence Speedway. Pete was a member of the Versailles Fire Department for 25 years, Versailles Masonic Lodge and Dabney Baptist Church. On July 19, 1980, Pete married the love of his life, Marcia Phillips. The two welcomed their first son, Derick in June 1982 and later welcomed Dane in December 1987. Pete enjoyed taking family vacations. Pete and Marcia purchased the family a timeshare with Westgate Resorts where they have spent more than 30 years making many family vacation memories. Pete loved the races and sports of all kinds; he was a huge fan of all IU sports. When he wasn't at a race or watching IU play, he loved to watch his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed hunting, boating, camping and playing poker. Pete is survived by his 2 sons, Derick (Misty) Holcomb, of Lawrenceburg, IN, Dane (Kayla) Holcomb of Georgetown, KY, Sister, Denise (Wendell) Tewmey, mother-in-law, Wanda Phillips, sisters-in-law, Bennilee (Russell) Hornsby, Sandra (Lynn) Works, Grandchildren, Dylan, Jaycen, & Kamryn Holcomb of Batesville, IN, Kinsley Holcomb of Lawrenceburg, IN, Bailey, Dane Jr., Logan & Rylee Holcomb of Georgetown, KY and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marcia, father-in-law, Lee Phillips, and niece, Clarissa Westermeier. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 12 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. Troy Green officiating. Burial will be in the Marble Corner Cemetery in Versailles. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Masonic Lodge or Marble Corner Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
