Dennis R. Owens

Dennis R. Owens, 56, of Osgood passed away Friday, June 13, 2003 at his residence. He was born in the Cedar Creek community near Osgood on July 28, 1946, the son of Glenn and Ethel Goodpaster Owens. He was married to Beverly Shinkle on January 29, 1966 and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Dennis R. Owens, Jr. and his wife Deena of Dillsboro, Brian Owens and his wife Jennifer of Madison; one daughter, Beth Owens of Versailles; six grandchildren; six brothers, Eugene Owens, Charles Owens, Joe Owens, Jim Owens, John Owens, and Russell Owens all of Osgood; three sisters, Georgia Adkinson of Elrod, Alice Faye Mills of Osgood, and Lou Trueblood of Salem. Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and his brother Raliegh Dale Owens. Mr. Owens was a 1965 graduate of Versailles High School and had been employed with US Shoe for 25 years. He was an Army veteran and was also a licensed auctioneer having owned and operated Owens Auction Barn in Versailles and Napoleon. He was currently employed with the Grand Victoria Casino in Rising Sun. Visitation will be Monday, June 16 from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 17 at 11am in the funeral home with Rev. Joe Owens officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery at Osgood with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
