Dolores Simon

Dolores M. Simon, 92, of Osgood passed away at 8:15 a.m., Friday, September 11, 2026 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born in Sidney, Ohio on October 26, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Ida Frey Barhorst. She was married to Arthur Simon, Jr. on June 15, 1954 and he preceded her in death on February 7, 2017. Survivors include four sons Gary (Marla), David (Lavonne), Chris (Jackie), and Greg (Becky) all of Osgood; three daughters Marilyn Linville of Osgood, Cheryl (Roger) Meyer of Greensburg, and Marcia (Ritchie) Moore of Charlestown; her daughter-in-law Rita Simon of Osgood; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Randal, her grandson Philip Simon, and her brothers Norbert and Alfred Barhorst. Mrs. Simon attended school in Millhousen and was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Osgood for many years where she participated in the Ladies Aid. She assisted Arthur on their dairy farm west of Osgood while raising her large family. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening and especially loved children. Dolores was known for her gentle spirit and kindness and she and Arthur were avid supporters of the Right to Life. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at the St. John Catholic Church in Osgood with Father Binu Mathew officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rosary services beginning at 4:30. Memorials may be given to the St. John Cemetery, SE IN Right to Life, or the St. John Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
