Donald E. Cozad, 83, of St. Cloud, Florida passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Osceola Health Care Center in St. Cloud. He was born at Quincy, Illinois on October 12, 1925 the son of Francis and Doris Adams Cozad. Survivors include one sister June (Woodie) Sizemore of Versailles along with two nieces and a nephew and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Kenneth and Gerald. Mr. Cozad was a 1943 graduate of Holton High School. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1966 and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He participated in battles in the Rhineland and Central Europe and received the WWII Victory Medal, 2 overseas service bars, European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, Occupation of Germany Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Cozad had also been employed at the Muscatatuck State Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 2 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion. Visitation will be Saturday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Cliff Hill Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
