Donald Shafer

Donald Shafer, Jr., 65, of the Flat Rock community near Osgood, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Waynesboro, Pennsylvania on August 16, 1942 the son of Donald, Sr. and Gladys Kime Shafer. He was married to Shirley Pearson on December 29, 1998 and she survives. Other survivors include three brothers, Kenneth Shafer of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, Jim Shafer of Middletown, PA., and Raymond Shafer of Harrisburg, PA.; four sisters, Gladys Tester of New Cumberland, PA., Doris Books and Vivian King both of Middletown, PA., and Debbie Fry of Steelton, PA. Mr. Shafer was a Navy Veteran and an over the road truck driver for NAPA for 18 years. Graveside services will be held Friday, September 21 at 2pm at the Flat Rock Cemetery with Malvin McCullough of the Flat Rock Baptist Church officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Versailles American Legion. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles is in charge of arrangements.
