Donald J. Turner, 72, of Versailles passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. He was born near New Marion on March 11, 1938 the son of Ova and Flora Sebastian Turner. He was married to India Castner on May 5, 1967 and she survives. Other survivors include one son Joe (Holly) Turner of Osgood; two daughters Nancy (Christopher) Solomon of Tybe Island, Georgia, and Kim (Tom) Sparks of Dillsboro; grandchildren Jack and Jesse Turner; one brother James E. Turner of Versailles; three sisters Freda (Carroll) Adkins and Janet (Gary) Meierle both of Versailles, and Joyce (James) Jones of Burlington, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Turner and his sisters Iva Stenger and Audra Stenger. Mr. Turner was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a truck driver for 46 years, retiring from Ferrell Gas in 2000. He was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church and the Versailles American Legion. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 8 at 11am at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Russell Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4pm to 7pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Monday at the church. Memorials may be given to the South Central Hospice or the Tanglewood Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
