Dorothea Ruth Braley Jeffries

Dorothea Ruth Braley Jeffries, 84, of Indianapolis passed away Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Waters of Clifty Falls at Madison. She was born in the Tanglewood community near Versailles on December 19, 1921 the daughter of Wilcy and Bernice McMartin Braley. Survivors include two brothers, Frank Braley of Versailles and Harold Braley and his wife Marilyn of Madison, along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles William and Robert Braley, and her sister Naomi Braley. Mrs. Jeffries was a 1939 graduate of Versailles High School. She received her bachelor's degree from Butler University in 1943 and her Masters degree from Butler in 1947. She taught school in Indianapolis at School 20 for 20 years and was principal at School 105 for 23 years. She was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church, Alpha Theta Sorority, and the Versailles Chapter of the Eastern Star. Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 5 at 1pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Rev. Becky Pohle officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12pm until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Tanglewood Baptist Church.
