Dorothy Laker Burman

Dorothy Laker Burman, 82, of Friendship passed away at 11:25 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. She was born near Patriot on September 7, 1943, the daughter of Brackie and Helen Cash Jackson. She was married to Lendo Laker on May 4, 1963 and he preceded her in death on July 18, 1993. She married Gerald Burman in 1999 and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2001. Survivors include one son Eric (Tiffanny) Laker of Friendship; two daughters Bonnie (Scott) Peetz and Janice (Mark) Core both of Friendship; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister Audrey Dausch of Greendale. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Jackson, and her sisters Gracie Gobel, Gertie Luke, and Joanne Smith. Mrs. Burman was a 1961 graduate of Dillsboro High School and attended the Booth Memorial LPN School of Nursing. Dorothy worked for 15 years as an LPN at the Dillsboro Manor and also did home health care for Advantage Homecare in Aurora. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Dorothy was a life member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Dewberry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 29 at 2 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Jerald Tucher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will also be on Monday beginning at 12 p.m. Memorials may be given to PAWS Animal Shelter at Lawrenceburg or the church in care of the funeral home.
