Doug Cole, 67, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born in Virginia on April 11, 1945, the son of Everett and Dorothy Marion Cole, and married to Sandy Back on February 11, 1995, and she survives. Other survivors include his mother Dorothy Marion Cole of New Marion, one son Doug Cole of Indianapolis; two daughters Kim (Mike) Mann of Indianapolis and Vickie Butler of Madison; three step-daughters Cindy (Timmy) Hawkins of Hart County, Kentucky, Vickie (Kevin) Bryan of Nelson County, Kentucky, and Wanda (Nathan) Tingle of Bargetown, Kentucky; 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren; five brothers Kenny (Judy) of Osgood, Paul "Cowboy" (Kim) of Oklahoma, Bobby, Randy both of New Marion, Wendell (Becky) of Benham; five sisters Barb (Dick) Shadday, Brenda (Jim) Smith, Beverly (Fred) Holler, Lori (David) Rudolph all of New Marion, Theresa (Jerry) Mason of Corbin, Kentucky; three brothers-in-law Darrell (Jean) Back of Boston, Kentucky, Sam Back of Louisville, J.R. Back of Hart County, Kentucky, two sisters-in-law Ann Brian of New Haven, Kentucky and Kathy Hagan of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother James. Mr. Cole was a 1963 graduate of New Marion High School and served our country in the Army. He retired from Ohio Rod and was also a member of the Versailles American Legion. Doug loved to hunt, fish, and hunt mushrooms, but most of all he loved to "spend a lot of time at the office." Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 21, at 10:30 am at the New Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Carter. Military rites will be conducted by the Versailles American Legion following the service at the church. Visitation will be Friday from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
