E. Gayle Geisler

E. Gayle Geisler, 85, of Versailles passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 at the Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. He was born near Benham on May 3, 1922 the son of Edmund and Hattie Morrow Geisler. He was married to Joan Daily on September 14, 1947 and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Lynn (Charles) Baurley of Benham and Melody (Jim) Arney of Versailles; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Geisler was a 1940 graduate of Cross Plains High School. He was a farmer, a former employee of Hunter's Hardware in Versailles, and for several years he was an independent trucker along with Mr. Robert Underwood, buying, selling, and hauling grain for area farmers. He was a member of the Tyson United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Versailles Lions Club, and a member of the Bradenton, Florida Lions Club. He was also a member and director for the Indiana Lions Eye Bank and a former member of the South Ripley School Board. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7 at 10:30am at the Tyson United Methodist Church with Rev. James Byerly officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 9pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9:30am until time of services Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Tyson United Methodist Church or the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
