**Edith Lemen**, 84, of Benham
passed away Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Swiss
Villa In Vevay. She was born near Canaan on March 20, 1921 the daughter of James
and Ella Mae Wilson Lanham. She was married to Preston Lemen on November 15,
1941 and he preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. Survivors include one
daughter Deanna Wooley and her husband Ross of Madison; grandchildren Steve
Wooley and his wife Jennifer of Indianapolis, Patrick Wooley of Madison, and
Dena Hearn and her husband Tom of Covington; two great-grandchildren Madeline
Hearn and Lana Wooley; one brother James Lanham of Madison; sisters Bessie
Schutte of Delaware and Marie Black of Madison; niece Lela Brindley of Vevay
along with several other nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Clovis Lemen of
Benham. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, her son
Dennis, sisters Opal Hines and Elsie Sampson, her brother Thurman Lanham, and
her nephew Jimmy Schutte. Mrs. Lemen was a 1940 graduate of Central High School
in Madison and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the former Hicks Baptist
Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20
at 11am at
the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Randy Thieman
officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday
from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to the South Ripley Classroom Teachers
Association Scholarship Fund or the Benham Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
