Edna Pennington

Edna Pennington, 76, of Elrod, passed away Saturday, May 31 at her residence. She was born at Laurel Creek, Kentucky on October 28, 1926, the daughter of Woodard and Amelia Jane Ball Sawyers. She was married to Nevel Pennington on December 7, 1941 and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Pennington was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Baptist Church at Elrod. She is survived by three sons; Ruick Pennington and his companion Gwen, Kenny Jordan and wife Debbie, and Tony Pennington and wife Shari all of Elrod; eight daughters; Earline Copeland and her husband Kenny of Versailles, Joyce and Jerry Vogel of Friendship, Judy and Les Wright, Cheryl and Dana Hooton, Shelley and Darrell Smith all of Madison, Pat and Jeff Owens of Elrod, Kim and Bob Brown of Seymour, and Teri and Trace Cutter of Milan; 27 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clay Sawyers of Burlington, Kentucky; two sisters; Zilphia Ludington of Cincinnati and Bitha Byrd of Manchester. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughters Katherine and Verna Marie, four great-grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters. Visitation will be Monday, June 2 from 4pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3 at 10:30am at the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in the Cravens Cemetery in Milan. Memorials may be given to the Washington Baptist Church Building Fund, Milan Rescue 30, or the Milan Fire Department.
