Edwin Tad Lainhart

**Edwin Tad Lainhart**, 89, of Holton passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at his residence. He was born at Covell, Illinois on April 20, 1916 the son of Sanford and Martha Begley Lainhart. He grew up and attended school in McKee, Kentucky and also had attended Eastern Kentucky University. He married Myrtle Sizemore on February 13, 1940 and she survives. Other survivors include his son Edwin Tad Lainhart, Jr. and his wife Sherrie of Erlanger, Kentucky; one daughter Patti Jo Hunyadi and her husband Mike of New Paris, Ohio; grandchildren Bill Lainhart of Litchfield, Kentucky, Sherran Schatzman and Tyra Jo Lainhart both of Erlanger, Vanessa DeBoo of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Amanda Hunyadi of Franklin, Indiana; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; brothers Eddie Lainhart of Yellow Springs, Ohio, David Lainhart and Keith Lainhart both of Springboro, Ohio; sisters Gladys McDougal of St. Petersburg, Florida and Roselyn Mitakidus of Springboro, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Elsie Case. Mr. Lainhart served in the 82 Airborne during WWII as a medic with the 325 Glider Infantry. He served in the European Theater and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a farmer and owned and operated Tad's Bargain Farm at the east edge of Holton for several years. Known to many as "Brother Tad" he could be found at any one of numerous churches, singing, playing guitar, and giving his testimony. He attended the Hiway Holiness Church near Butlerville and also shared God's love through his ministry to the elderly. For over 12 years he visited many nursing homes to spread the Christian message through his music and words. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 15 at 2pm at the Hiway Holiness Church with Pastor Claude Fouts officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Holton Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
