Elizabeth Jackson Raney, 94, of Versailles passed away Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near Dabney on May 15, 1915 the daughter of Roy and Lela Kirtley Daugherty. She was married to Charles Jackson on July 12, 1934 and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1977. She was married to Ray Raney on December 6, 1979 and he survives. Other survivors include one daughter Patty (Herman) Stutler of Versailles; one step-son, Mike (Bonnie) Raney of Versailles; two grandchildren Cynthia Stutler of Amelia, Ohio and Rev. Kurt (Jean) Stutler of Anderson, South Carolina; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her brother Charles Daugherty. Mrs. Raney was a 1932 graduate of Holton High School. She was a member of the Versailles Baptist Church for 67 years and she participated in the church choir for over 60 years. She had been employed as a school secretary for 40 years serving 18 years at Versailles High School and 22 years at South Ripley High School. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28 at 11am at the Versailles Baptist Church with Rev. Kurt Stutler and Rev. Mike Cantrel officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5pm to 8pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10am until time of services Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Versailles Baptist Church or the church choir.
