Elmer R. Vogel, 94, of Versailles, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2003 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was born near Cross Plains December 13, 1908 the son of Theodore and Lena Peters Vogel. He was married to Anna Schwagmeier on May 3, 1941 and she preceded him in death on October 25, 1990. Mr. Vogel was a farmer and had spent his entire life in the Benham and Cross Plains community. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Olean where he served on the church council and was also a member of the Ripley County Farm Bureau. He is survived by one daughter, Eileen LaGreca and her husband Frank of Dillsboro, one son, Ralph Vogel and his wife Lois of Versailles; four grandchildren, Steve and Bradley Hunger and Kelly and Adam Vogel. Mr. Vogel was preceded in death by his grandson Mark Hunger and his son-in-law Paul Hunger.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 10am at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Olean with Rev. Marcus Felde officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 26 from 6pm to 9pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the donors choice.
